Another perplexing point is there are both 2-hole and 3-hole drillings for the neck attachment.  Danelectro did use 2 hole neck neck attachments on some models over the years, and on early runs of some models that later had 3 hole attachments; But again, the only 2 hole attachments I've seen on Danelectro Coral models was the last-year runs of ecomomy versions.  I'm inclined to think that this guitar started out on an economy version line but was pulled and put on a Firefly line where 3 holes were drilled.and the standard Firefly cover plate installed that would not have been on an economy version. Also perplexing is that there is a small amount of gouging around the center front hole; But I can guess a number of causes for the perplexities of a 44 to 47 year old guitar; None of which effect refurbishing this guitar to a great player.
A small corner of the binding's feathered end is broken off;  A quite easy repair for a guitar repair tech or experienced craftsman; Email me if you might need advice with same.  I'm one of the players and techs that usually prefer to leave a guitar's scars as they are as part of their soul / mojo.
Remember I said we'd see how hard the owner of this guitar tried to learn & play?  Well, look behind the neck pickup cavity where finger sweat vibrates off of strings and onto most guitars body.  On this one we also see where the strings actually touched the body because they were picked and strummed hard, and the lighter the gauge each string was, the more it flexed down onto the body, with the first string weakening the finish which has flaked off over the years!  I really enjoy letting a guitar tell a lot about it's past if we look and think closely!

In this shot we can see the finish's checking around the knob holes and between the treble bout F hole and switch hole and in front of the switch hole.

In the several photos of this guitar's top on this page, notice different angled views into the bridge pickup cavity where the channeled round sound post can be seen in front and behind the pickup cavity.
This guitar was not polished for these pictures. I wiped the guitar down with a finish replenishing oil before I packed it away 4 or 5 years ago which went into the finish and dried shortly after the guitar was packed away. The shine on this guitar is it's natural sheen shine and not polish.
