This guitar had never had it's knobs removed.  Here is a trick for removing tight knobs without marring nor marking guitar;  Use ever increasing thicknesses of guitar picks to raise the knobs from their shafts until they are loose enough to lift off by fingers:

NOTICE:  This guitar is one of the very first reissues of Danelectro guitars in 1998.  I was extremely excited about these reissues of my very favorite guitars and at being given one of the very first distributorships by Danelectro, ...until my health required that I downsize my shop.  I have known Danelectros expertly for a very long time.

On close inspection before shipping I noticed that this guitar has a pickup switch that proved to be inferior so Danelectro replaced them with a superior switch on subsequent reissue runs.  So I removed the inferior switch and replaced it with the superior switch.  Here is an archive of that operation:
Here is the old switch that is coming out.  I will show how to tell a first run inferior switch to the superior replacement switch, and show most of the operation. " Sponge please, nurse ! "
