Overview; Strings ground wire installed, with it's previously painted base colors that will block the copper's reflectivity with base colors close to the final colors. In the art profession this background coloring is also called 'grounding' ! |
These earth colors that are actually in the bridge and pickuguard, will keep the wire's copper color from flashing through the next layers of more precise colors. |

But in order to paint the wire we have to make a backing mask so paint won't get on the guitar. This is done by SWAG'ing at the width of mask needed and cutting it from a 3x5 note card in a slightly trapezoidal shape so that the small end of the mask will enter under the wire first and become ever-wider as it's slid in to the exact width needed. |
And we do the same with the bridge piece. Now we're ready to start painting again. |
