These fine wood teardrop bodies were  intended by Danelectro / Coral for 6 string guitars and 12 string belzouki model guitars, in both acoustic and electric versions.  Danelectro / Coral only produced a limited beta market test number of guitars with these teardrop bodies, before the factory closed during that beta period, leaving a large surplus of factory line and support parts that were sold at auction mostly in large lots to capable luthiers and parts investors; Which is where this body and hardware came from.

I assembled the parts shown in the pictures here, that also originally came from the factory auction; Which I recognized over the years as NOS parts for Danelectro / Coral beta issued wood teardrop guitars (neck common to all masonite models and the beta teardrop) and was lucky enough to see and purchase them separately; I assembled them here to show that the Danelectro / Coral famed parts interchangeability go right into place without any modifications (and to have some fun playing it for a few weeks before returning the neck to it's proper place in mint parts inventory).  Were it not for age and declining health catching up with a robust life, I would not have my old dear parts up for sale.  If I'm lucky I still might get a chance to make a very nice Dano acoustic-electric 12 string "belzouki" from this body and hardware.  I have original parts to complete this guitar as shown or as a Dano 'paddle' headstock belzouki 12 string. Coral used the Danelectro coke bottle headstock necks shown here in their very limited beta market test issues of the 6 string acoustic versions of this guitar,;  And used their "paddle" headstock for a beta 12 string version, like they used on their Dane series Coral Scorpion D3N12 12 string guitar. It is assumed that Danelectro / Coral would have used their 6-in-line headstocks for 6 stringers had these guitars went into full production. I am not aware of any acoustic-electric versions ever made for even beta issuances, although acoustic-electrics of this guitar were intended when the Danelectro / Coral factory shut their doors in 1969.

Notice that the 'coke bottle' headstock neck on this guitar is from pre-1967 parts stock (Coral logo and 6IL headstocks were used thereafter), and thus was part of Danelectro's large parts support when the factory closed down.

Luthiers (such as Dan Armstrong) and private parties building these acoustic guitars from factory auctioned parts, and acoustic-electric versions as well, was quite popular for several years after the Danelectro / Coral factory closed down.  Over the years they have become very rare, ....extremely rare in this new parts state & condition.

These bodies and the fine wood Longhorn bodies were made for Danelectro / Coral by Kawai, one of the planet's finest piano makers.
