JBL 15" Speaker Pair.
Coned as model 2231A;
Voiced for main PA, softer and less bright than instrument speaker coils & cones.
8 ohms each
Late 1960's > 1970's era

These speakers were working fine when I stopped using them about 10 years ago.  Since then their cone perimeter suspension has completely deteriorated in storage, so they need at least their cone perimeter suspension replaced;  Maybe a complete recone.  The coil does not rub when the cone is pressed in on it's longitudinal axis.  Continuity between the coil and magnet is infinity on both speakers.  Sold at recone price.  If you are not a speaker technician then please expect a good probability that these speakers will need reconing.  Due to their pressed felt paper dust cover, I believe the cone to conform with their frames' JBL 2231A labels.  Original JBL slight-wrinkle-gray finish, and original labels.  These speakers will clean up nicely.  My understanding is that these can be reconed to D, E, K or 2200 series cones.

These speakers have a robust history;  They were the very first speakers / cabinet built by Odysey Sound owner Sam Holt, of Honolulu; One of the first icons of 1960's rock and roll concert productions in Hawaii, which grew to a full service concert and commercial sound production and service company.

I bought them from Sam when we shared a house way back in 1981 when he was cleaning out too much old "stuff", along with his very first mixer, a Heil 8 channel with built-in electronic crossover;  I wanted to have / hold those pieces of music history.  Now I find myself at Sam's age back then, and time to thin & scale down my "collecting" and thin things down for a smaller lifestyle.  'All My Rowdy Friends Have Settled Down'.......; Few left to do musical crimes with.

I will be delighted to clean these speakers up well.

I will professionally crate these speakers for shipping, at no charge for crating.

Crated shipping weight will be approximately 50 lbs, and crate external size approximately 20" x 20" x 15".
