Most brownish discoloration on my vintage parts including these Dano skate key tuners is residue of LPS3 preservative I spray onto them when I get them.
Single strips are also good to take parts from and have spares for increasingly difficult to find skate key tuners in decent condition. I also have a few internal parts for skate key tuners; Inquire if you need.
For folks that don't want to keep the vintage patina that's important to a lot of folks: Old skate key tuners clean up very nicely by working a penetrating oil such as PB Blaster with brass wool, and then buffing or hand compounding. NOTICE: Dano skate key tuners can still be occasionally found on ebay or the internet if a person is persistant in their searches. Their prices are rising considerably as more and more people discover the wonderful aspects of vintage and 1998-2003 reissue Danelectro guitars, and as good parts get bought up for old parts atrition. So don't pass up a reasonable set you need just because you think they are a bit pricey; They will surely keep going up in price as time flows and availability dwindles. I know; I watch for them myself.

Shown below is a vintage original factory "NOS" set of 3+3 skate key tuners (still on their vintage original factory NOS neck) complete with factory original mounting screws.
This neck with tuners came from the factory liquidation auction when the Danelectro / Coral company & factory shut down in 1969 not to be resurrected again until 1998.

* PLEASE NOTICE: THESE TUNERS CAN NO LONGER BE SOLD AS "NOS": Although they were packed away very well about 15 years ago, airtight and encased in vapor phase corrosion inhibitor and packed in airtight / watertight packaging; I pulled and unpacked these tuners night before last for a seriously inquiring Customer, and lo and behold, nominal corrosion had broken out in a few places. Although the corrosion will clean up quite well, and these tuners are indeed unused, ....they no longer meet what most Customers would expect as "New Old Stock".
