The brownish color around the sides of the case is a coating of LPS4;  An aerosol wax that protects metals from corrosion.  I would of course clean the case expertly before shipping to a Customer.
Original tags are in the case assessory compartment.  Although this guitar was made and serialed in 1996, it was not inspected for factory release until Feb. 2, 1997, as witnessed by the inspection card with the guitar's serial number on it.
