Guyatone
Model HG-96C

PREVIOUS OWNER REPORTS:  Vintage Guyatone Lap Steel Guitar #HG-96C with original case.  Not sure of exact date, late 50s early 60's.  Plays great!  Made in Japan.  In good shape, shows very little wear. Some nicks in paint, surface mark on fret board. Guitar measures 31" in length.  Original hard case lined with purple felt.  Total weight when packed for shipping is 12 lbs.

Guyatone Steels were popular during the 1950's and 1960's.  They sound good and play well.  This model was obviously designed to appear similar to and compete with Fender Steels, although it is quite distinctive in it's post-war Japan Art Nuveau / Deco design;  And it's easter-egg aqua-green color and shade remarkable in that art.  It's hardware also stands out as classic Japanese engineering / design that gave way to the popularity and copy (world-wide) of American guitar styling.  It's very rare to find one of these in this one's Excellent condition.  This is an excellent Steel Collectors piece as well as a very good sounding and playing Steel.
